The European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect 25 May 2018, nevertheless there are still uncertainties and misconceptions haunting many.
Especially in the payments industry, with complex layers of gateways, PSPs and acquirers or alternative payment method suppliers involved in the processing of one single transaction, the GDPR seems a particular tricky subject.
Globalisation is resulting in the ability for even smaller merchants to sell internationally. GDPR compliance can be on anyone’s plate. The guidance available is limited and companies are bound to their own (often too literal) interpretations, leading to unease about becoming fully complaint.
During this webinar, we share our views to PSPs and other payment processors in the industry on their role and that of the many other industry players and relevant considerations. The impact of such assessment is trivial for a PSP or Acquirer in understanding their potential liabilities and further impact. The webinar will also share some light on the hate-love affair between PSD2 and GDPR and how these two new legislations should work jointly.
